Open Box Moving Solutions
Trucks titled to us, crews we put on a W-2 paycheck, a price you saw before you booked — one written flat rate, nothing tacked on later
Get Your Free Flat Rate
Tell us roughly what needs to move and we email back a single number with our name behind it. A steep-driveway shuttle is already accounted for, and if a downtown building wants a COI on file, that cost is folded in before you ever read the total.

Three simple steps
-
1
Tell us what’s moving
Pick whichever is easier — the short form here or a call to the office — and a real Asheville crew member answers rather than some message service. To get rolling we only need four things from you: your current address, the place you’re landing, a week that suits your schedule, and a rough sense of how much there is to move. At this point you haven’t signed a thing or paid a cent, and the contact details you give us stay in-house — we don’t hand them off to any lead-broker phone bank.
-
2
One written price, locked
Usually the figure reaches you before the day is out: a firm price, written down, with none of the over-the-phone guesswork and none of the running tally that balloons after the truck is packed. Whatever number we email is exactly what you pay at the curb — the quote and the final box off the ramp carry the same total, full stop. Should a downtown building ask for a Certificate of Insurance ahead of the loading dock or the elevator, Becca takes care of filing it with management inside their deadline and books any access window the address needs, leaving the crew a clear spot to work right at the door.

Move day: we lift, you relax
Out come the pads, the floor runners, the stair rollers, and any dolly a snug craftsman bungalow in West Asheville happens to demand — and behind every one of them is a W-2 mover on our own payroll, never a sub and never day-labor. From the first carton to the last, the job is ours start to finish: walking a piano down the stairs, rolling it out to the curb, hauling it across town or along the Blue Ridge Parkway, and then putting each room back together the way you left it. If your closing drags and the new place runs late, we tuck the load into clean, dry storage to bridge the gap between sale and move-in, and your schedule keeps right on rolling.
Let us know what’s moving
Give us the particulars and the crew runs with them. Maybe it’s a craftsman bungalow in Montford, a historic home over in Black Mountain, a mountain cabin tucked above Biltmore Forest, a downtown loft with one cramped freight elevator, or a long pull east toward the coast — either way, Open Box Moving Solutions rolls up in trucks we own, hands the work to W-2 movers on our payroll, and brings enough road behind us to take on whatever Asheville and Western North Carolina throws at us.

“They were the most affordable option. I am lucky they were also the best option. They went above and beyond for sure. Everyone was great to work with from scheduling to move-in day. Thanks for everything!”
Meet Cole Brantley
“I got tired of watching Asheville families hire a cheap outfit that lowballed the quote over the phone and then padded the bill once the truck was loaded at the bottom of the driveway”
Grew up in Candler just west of Asheville and spent his summers hauling furniture up mountain driveways all over Buncombe County. On most jobs you will still find Cole riding along on the truck and lifting beside the crew — and it is exactly that hands-on habit that keeps a quote honest, since the movers standing at your door are people he brought on and trained up himself.
Why families pick us
- A flat rate you can read — the figure on the page is the figure you pay; no flattering phone estimate, no invoice that quietly grows once the boxes are aboard
- $1M in cargo coverage — and when a downtown building wants a Certificate of Insurance, it’s lodged with management ahead of whatever deadline they set
- Trucks we own, crews on our W-2 — these movers are mountain locals, paid by us and covered by our policy; no slice of the day ever goes to a sub or gets propped up with day-labor
- Access and the COI are on us — a steep-driveway shuttle gets lined up so the truck has somewhere to stand, and the downtown building COI is filed before move day; that’s exactly where the bargain crews fall down
- The owner is a phone call away — dial in and Cole answers in person, and you’ll still find him on the larger Black Mountain and downtown-loft jobs, so no faraway call center is ever running your move
- 14 years in the mountains — everyday work for this crew: the tight stairwells of a West Asheville craftsman, the old floors of a Black Mountain historic home, and a load-out started early so a winter ice storm can’t catch us out
Serving Asheville and Western North Carolina
Top long-haul lanes from Asheville
Here’s the deal: one written flat rate, our own US DOT number stamped on a truck we hold the title to, and door-to-door tracking that stays with your load for the entire haul — whether the drive puts us on the Blue Ridge Parkway, out along I-40, or south on I-26.
Common questions
Are the trucks and crews actually yours?
Yes — and nothing gets subcontracted. The trucks, the people loading them, and the operating authority all sit under one roof. Open Box Moving Solutions is a family household-goods mover led by Cole, based in Asheville, NC and licensed and insured across the state. For North Carolina intrastate work we hold NCUC No. C-2841, and anything crossing state lines runs under live USDOT authority with MC authority. What that buys you is simple: each truck in the yard carries our title, every mountain mover handling your boxes is on our W-2 payroll, and not one leg of the day is ever quietly passed to a sub or filled in with day-labor.
What will my move cost?
Nothing here is metered — a local job is priced as one flat rate covering the whole move, and that number holds whether the sofa has to thread a tight Montford stairwell or the truck has to back down a narrow West Asheville lane. Mountain-town rates run a touch over the national average: when an hourly figure fits the work, plan on roughly $130 an hour for a two-mover team; a two-bedroom apartment or condo tends to land between $500 and $1,250, with three- and four-bedroom houses above that. As soon as Cole has walked the rooms in person or gone through them on a video tour, the complete flat rate goes in writing — the steep-driveway shuttle, the COI, and any storage that bridges a sale and a closing all folded in.
When should I get on your calendar?
Certain dates book up ahead of everything else — the month-end closings, the first-of-month lease turns, and the long summer-into-fall stretch — so aim to pin your date down about two weeks out, and leave a bit more cushion from June through October, when it seems like half the mountains are loading a truck at once. After that peak settles, the calendar opens back up and a few days’ notice is usually enough. We’re below the snow belt, so a winter booking still goes ahead on time; the one thing to watch is a passing ice storm, which can nudge a day, and when one’s in the forecast we’ll talk it through with you early. Reach us in a quiet week with a crew free and a same-week request often still slots in.
Is there a job too big to handle?
Our map covers all of Asheville and Western North Carolina — Montford and West Asheville, Black Mountain and Biltmore Forest, the downtown lofts, and the small towns scattered through the mountains — and we run the long lanes as well, east toward the coast, over to Charlotte, and across the line into Tennessee. Heavy, awkward pieces are routine for us. Lay out the padded boards and the stair rollers, set a trained crew with the right gear to them, and an upright, a baby grand, or a gun safe rides down the stairs the way it ought to — that’s skilled labor, not a Saturday favor swapped between neighbors. Boxes are only where it starts, too: full-service packing, clean storage to span a sale and a closing, and unhurried, gentle help for seniors paring down a lifetime of belongings all fit easily within what we take on.
Insured? Can you file a COI?
Every job is insured — and the Certificate of Insurance is precisely where the bargain outfits come up short. Each move carries $1M in cargo liability, and on top of that you can add full-value protection at roughly 1–3% of the value you declare. Our crews sit under general liability and workers’ comp, with a bond layered on as well. Whenever a downtown building, a management office, or a board asks for a COI before the dock or the elevator opens up, Becca has it filed with management comfortably inside whatever deadline they hand us.
Do I need to be on site?
Having you on hand at both ends — load-out and drop-off — makes things easier, since a downtown building’s front desk often wants someone to sign in at the dock. That said, if the day gets away from you, handing the keys to a relative or a neighbor you trust does the job just fine. No matter who fills in, the crew labels each item as it goes up the ramp and checks every one back off that same list when it comes through the door at the far end.
Any fee to reschedule?
Give us 48 hours or more and a cancellation runs you nothing at all, plain and simple. Shifting the job to another day costs nothing either, as long as a crew is free on the date you want. One thing to keep in mind: month-end closings, lease turns, and summer dates book up quickly all over the mountains, so the earlier you flag a change, the better your chances of holding onto the window your plans depend on.
How can I pay?
Whatever’s easiest for you works for us — Visa, Mastercard, Amex, and Discover are all fine, and so are debit, a certified check, or cash. Reserving your spot on the calendar takes nothing down. The balance comes due at delivery, and not until you’ve looked the load over and signed off on it — not a minute sooner.
What if something is damaged?
Standard released-value coverage at $0.60/lb comes with every job, no surcharge attached. Spot something amiss? Flag it to the crew chief before the truck rolls off and it goes straight onto that day’s inventory on the spot — and the bulk of claims close out comfortably within the roughly nine-month window we keep open. Trusting us with a family heirloom, a piano, or anything you’d hate to lose? Add full-value protection at around 1–3% of the value you declare, and that piece travels with a great deal more cushion behind it.
Date set? We handle the rest.
Send over the two ZIPs and the week you have marked, and that same day one plain flat rate comes back — already with the resident-permit parking and the downtown loft COI folded in.
