The moving industry produces so much waste and many pollutants, all landing in our landfills, and the air we breathe. These wasteful out dated practices leave an overall harmful impression on our environment, bodies, and surroundings. It is imperative to our future that all companies start being environmentally conscious.

Bio-diesel fleet

In an effort to lighten our carbon footprint, The Open Box Moving Solutions uses moving trucks operating on EPA certified Bio-diesel (B-20). We run only bio-diesel in our trucks in order to reduce our carbon footprint. The benefits of bio-diesel are tremendous.

Based on engine testing, required by EPA for certification of fuels in the US, the overall ozone forming potential of the speculated hydrocarbon emissions from bio-diesel was nearly 50 percent less than that measured for diesel fuel. In addition, the exhaust emissions of sulfur oxides and sulfates (major components of acid rain) from bio-diesel are essentially eliminated compared to diesel.

Eco- Box

Use our Eco Boxes to replace cardboard and reduce waste. We offer our clients an opportunity to move with the environment in mind. By using our recycled plastic Eco Box, you are eliminating the waste that comes from a normal move using cardboard. With all the same sizes of a conventional cardboard box, packing your belongings is still just as easy, only better for the environment and your wallet.

Packing Materials

To protect your valued possessions we only use the most Eco- friendly products.

Our Bio fill replaces traditional packaging peanuts. Not only does it serve purpose supplying cushioning for your packaged items. It also, supplies nutrients to our plants and the environment.

Being 100% compostable and dissolving in water, when Bio fill has been of its benefit to you, place in your garden and it will supply your flowers with nutrients helpful for growth.

Offering two options for Eco- friendly padded wrapping, you can choose between biodegradable recycled paper mesh padding and a 100% recycled bubble wrap. Both are sufficient to protect fragile items while keeping our environment waste free.

Not to leave out our compostable paper wrapping, sure to keep all of your belongings safe and clean!

Green Equipment

In order to truly operate by an Eco- friendly philosophy, our equipment must meet the same green standards, as our business practices. Our team is equipped with all the latest Eco- friendly equipment available to the moving industry. Biodegradable furniture wrap, and quilted cotton filled pads are a few examples of the standard green equipment used on every job. From the bio-diesel fleet transporting your belongings to our Eco Box they are packed in, down to the Bio-fill keeping the items cushioned, The Open Box Moving Solutions is dedicated to moving you green.

Extensive Recycling Program

Our company commitment to the environment is alongside our commitment to our clients. An extensive company recycling program will be implemented through our business model.

At The Open Box Moving Solutions, we were seeing excessive amounts of cardboard boxes, packing material, and other recyclable items get tossed in the trash. Being conscious of our environment, we knew we had to do something about all the waste building up. Here are a few ways we have attempted to do so:

Recycled Cardboard Boxes & Packing Materials

Recycling moving boxes is important and we encourage our clients to do so. We have made the recycling process easy and convenient, while offering an incentive to you. We accept back all recycled boxes and packing materials from our clients. After being inspected for quality, they are sorted and restocked. Our used recycled moving boxes are offered to our clients at a 25% discount off the original price of a new recycled moving box. The boxes that have too much wear and tear to be used again are recycled.

Team Involvement

Team members of The Open Box Moving Solutions are also embracing the green movement. Recycling bottles, cans, and all recyclable office materials has become second nature to all of us here. We are always happy to practice any new green suggestions we receive from team members and clients.

Goodwill / Salvation Army Drop Off Service

We supply our clients with a variety of services, one of them being our complementary Goodwill and Salvation Army drop off service. Here is how it works: Our clients choose which unwanted items they would like to have taken to one of these charities. At the end of the move we will happily load the unwanted items set aside and deliver them to our local drop off location. By donating your unwanted household goods you are not only helping a family in need and creating jobs in our local community, but you are preventing quality items from ending up in our landfills by finding them a new home. We are honored to offer our clients such a wonderful service at no charge.

Plant a tree for every Move.

New growth is an essential part of protecting and sustaining a healthy environment. One tree can filter up to 60 pounds of pollutants from the air each year. So why do we keep cutting them all down? The Open Box Moving Solutions has arranged to plant a tree, for every client moved! To date, Over 1,000 trees have been planted, though Trees For The Future. The Open Box Moving Solutions also donates trees to a local non-profit organization Asheville Greenworks, who plant the trees all around Buncombe County in numerous locations for everyone’s enjoyment. It is important to us at The Open Box Moving Solutions to give back to our environment, as well as our community. We felt the trees were best planted throughout the county, where our students of today and future generations of tomorrow will be able to enjoy their overwhelming benefits and beauty, for many years to come!
